I’m Hjálmar Kakali a designer based in Reykjavík, Iceland. I grew up on the east side of the island where I spent my time drawing, painting, playing games, exploring nature and creating fantastical worlds. I taught myself how to draw on my first PC and became a very ambitious digital and traditional artist.
I moved to England in 2006 where I graduated with a BA (hons) Fine Art degree. After graduation I moved to London where I worked as a freelance designer on a wide variety of jobs, among other things living with a circus and working on the set design. Was even offered my very own caravan to stay in.
I relocated to Reykjavík in 2013 to study MA Design at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts and discovered my passion for phenomenology and semiotics under the tutelage of Goddur. Immediately after graduation I accepted a job offer at CCP Games as a UI/UX designer working on their flagship title. I have since worked as a freelance designer and at digital product design agencies in Iceland.
